With every New Year comes a changing of the guard in our Lodge. I am honored to be the one asked to serve in the East for 2014. Once again, I would like to thank the installing team: Most Worshipful David Doan and Worshipfuls Art Weiss and Buster Smith for a terrific job on January 4th. Brother Stephen Wurtzel, Worshipful Marc Newman and all those who helped make the day so special for my family, and me, I cannot begin to express my appreciation for the work you put in.
We have a tremendous calendar for the year with many new programs, events, and projects and of course, degrees already being planned. We have added one “Men’s Night Out” to the calendar every month, which will be held on the Thursday following our Stated Meeting. Locations and activities will vary from poker to movies to sitting outside for a cigar. Check the web site calendar for details. Some of the other new-for-2014 activities we are working on include: A golf tournament, a day at the gun range, a poker tournament, a day at Santa Anita Race Track, a day at the archery range and the big one… our 1st Annual Conejo Valley Masonic Bodies Joint BBQ (Lodge / Eastern Star / Job’s Daughters / DeMolay) is being planned for July 19th.
We have a very special Masonic Education Night planned for Tuesday, March 11th. See the enclosed flyer. Right Worshipful Perry, Senior Grand Warden, will be coming down from Northern California just to spend the evening with us! He is an incredible speaker, leader and visionary within our fraternity. You will not want to miss this event!
We have already launched our new web site WWW.CONEJOMASON.ORG which has an up-to-date calendar. Please bookmark the web site on your computer and smartphone and check the site regularly. Calendar events commonly change or are added throughout the year and the web site is the best way to keep up.
As I mentioned at the January Stated meeting and at Installations, I am implementing a monthly Stated Meeting Challenge. FEBRUARY: Wear some red, in honor of Valentine’s Day! It can be as simple as a tie with a red stripe, red socks, red coat – anything red! Anyone wearing something red will be entered into the night’s drawing. MARCH: Wear some green, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day! Anything with green will do, but may I suggest a Lodge Tie?
And speaking of Lodge Ties, they are available! We have straight neckties, pre-tied bow ties and self-tie bow ties. Ties are $30 each and can be purchased through our Assistant Secretary (Stephen Wurtzel). Lodge lapel pins are also available at no-charge; see Worshipful Spiegel to obtain one. Show your pride for our Lodge by wearing your tie and/or pin!
2014 promises to be a busy but fun year. Please check the web site, read the Trestle Boards, come to meeting and events, and get involved.
