From the East

What a great year this has been for Conejo Valley Lodge so far!  The first three months of 2016 have been very busy for our Lodge.  We have already conferred several degrees, held our annual Widows & Sweethearts Dinner, gathered together for a Men’s Night Out, hosted a Masonic Education Night, had a good showing at the LA Masonic Service Bureau’s Annual Men’s Breakfast honoring the Grand Master, assisted our neighboring Lodge (Simi Valley Lodge #806) with conferring a 3rd Degree and even managed to coordinate our own Stated Meeting Dinners.  And we’re just getting started!  Over the next few

Brethren , ladies, and friends, we received a formal reply from our Eastern Star chapter that this year will be their last for preparing the stated meeting dinners. I want to thank them for their many years of service. Our Stated Meeting Dinners are an important part of our Lodge life. To our new visitors and applicants they are a window to our lodge and often form their first impression. For me they provided an elegant touch to our lodge dinners that I haven’t seen in other lodges. Results from the Stated Meeting Dinner Survey are in: I received 9

From the South

On the first weekend in May, I had the pleasure of attending the Wardens and Master retreat in Irvine California. Lots of information was dispensed and discussed by all the brothers who attended. As in all gatherings like this, there are one or two things that stand out. The one that stood out the most to me was a concept presented by our Grand Master who called it Civil Dialogue. This is something that we in our Lodge use all the time, but seems to be out of favor with rest of society at the present time. I believe that

We will be trying to improve our Stated Meeting Dinner experience and we would like your opinion (everybody is supposed to have one). So take the effort and help us out with the survey that will be distributed during the dinner. Supporting our veterans was proposed at our February stated meeting and brothers showed their support. Acting on this support, Arthur Ruditzky, Edwin Escamilla and I attended the Ventura County Military Collaborative, where over 100 organizations provide services and support to our veterans. Our lodge’s offering is unique among all of these organizations, for we are the only ones endeavoring

Brethren, My article this month is devoted to the masonic youth orders, Jobs Daughters, Rainbow for Girls and the Order of DeMolay. The first two groups are for young women and the last is for young men. As you are aware, the Grand Master has declared the month of March to be Youth Orders Month. We are very fortunate to have a Bethel of Jobes Daughters and DeMolay Chapter at our Masonic Center. Brothers, I would say to you that it is incumbent on us as Masons to support to support these organizations to the best our ability. I encourage

Conejo Valley Lodge 2014 Rewind

“The Game of Chess is not merely an idle amusement; several very valuable qualities of the mind, useful in the course of human life, are to be acquired and strengthened by it so as to become habits ready on all occasions; for life is a kind of Chess, in which we have often points to gain, and competitors or adversaries to contend with, and in which there is a vast variety of good and ill events, that are, in some degree, the effect of prudence, or the want of it. By playing at Chess then, we may learn: 1st, Foresight,

Brethren, As the end of the year quickly approaches and . the new line of officers prepare to take the reins, I . am forced to look back and reflect upon my year as your Master and the state of our Lodge. Was this a successful year, and if so, why? Is the Lodge in a better state then when I was installed? Did I accomplish everything I wanted to do? These are difficult questions to answer, especially within the confines of a Trestle Board article. Simply put, I would say – “yes.” I think all who were active in

‘Tis the Season, when hype fills the air, to part with money for the spirit of gift giving, ‘tis interesting that one holiday that seems to consistently fend of commercialization and yet seems to be truly observed by all, Thanksgiving. When looking at our national holidays, New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, (really? Who were the presidents? Weren’t George and Abraham in there somewhere?),Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Many of these holidays are constructed long weekends. I have to give Independence day high marks because we don’t swap days to make
